April, the midterm exam month, is coming again. Kingos who might feel exhausted need something to refresh them rather than energetic activities. There are perfect places that Kingos can feel at one with nature, leaving memories with photos. The Sungkyun Times (SKT) will introduce Dumulmeori and Yongmunsan in Yangpyeong, the city of recreation and tourism.
The Start of Yangpyeong: Dumulmeori
The name Dumulmeori literally means the place where the two Han Rivers, the North and the South, meet together. As it has a long history, Dumulmeori has changed its name many times like Yidusu, Yangsudu, and Byeongtan. It is a famous ecological tourist site chosen as one of Korea’s top 100 tourist attractions by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Due to the beautiful scenery, many people visit here to take photos, especially as it is also the filming location of the K-drama, She Was Pretty. It takes 2 hours and 26 minutes to arrive here from the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus and 2 hours and 36 minutes from the Natural Sciences Campus if you take the subway or bus. Since there is a considerable distance between Dumulmeori and the school, it is recommended to take a car.
-The Popular Tourist Attractions in Dumulmeori
1 l The View from Dumulmeori: Mountains, Rivers, and the Reflections
A river flows along the trail before the entrance of Dumulmeori. When walking along the river and turning left at the end of the trail where Dumulmeori begins, you will quickly be immersed in the scenery of mountains and rivers being in harmony. The view, especially mountains being reflected on the river, is exquisite. The calm and peaceful sight it shows will make you feel like “I am the only person who knows and comes to this beautiful place,” even though there are many people around. There are benches and cafes located near the sites, which allow people to enjoy the view while relaxing. The scenery at all the sites is beautiful; however, Dumulgyeong, which is located at the end of Dumulmeori, will be the place where people can enjoy the sceneries of mountains and rivers the most . The view from Dumulgyeong will make you feel as if they surround you.

2 l Day and Night in Dumulmeori
There are many attractions, including historical sights, photo zones, and food to enjoy in Dumulmeori. If you arrive early in the morning, you can watch the dense fog rising on the river at a fog rest-area. And at noon, you can visit the two famous trees of the 400-year-old zelkova tree and the wish tree, the Dumulmeori dolmen, and the Dumulmeori sailing boat. If you get to stay until the evening sky glows red, try to revisit Dumulgyeong. The view of Dumulgyeong at sunset is spectacular, especially in winter, when the sun sets among the day and snowy winter. Since Dumulmeori is known for its stunning scenery, there is a frame photo zone putting its view in the background. People can pose freely in the frame with the background of the mountains and rivers, but they usually sit on the edge of the frame or film back appearance. You can ask people to take pictures for you as there are long queues. Also, do not forget to try out the Dumulmeori lotus corn dog, which has lotus leaves in it. It is their signature food, and you won’t want to miss it.

The Root of Yangpyeong: Yongmunsan Tourist Site
Yongmunsan tourist spot, also called the root of Yangpyeong, is surrounded by Yongmun Mountain and Jungwon Mountain. Since there are many exciting activities such as hiking, temple-stays, and camping, many people visit this place to make impressive memories. In particular, there is a wild vegetable festival from late April to early May. Although there are many sights to see in Yongmunsan, the SKT will mainly focus on the Yongmunsa Temple and the youth museum.
The admission fee of the Yongmunsa Temple is 2,500 won for adults. Since the Yongmun Mountains surround the Yongmunsa Temple, you should hike to reach the temple. The vibrant scenery of nature will make hiking much more pleasing. There is something people look for when they arrive at the temple, which is the ginkgo tree. This particular ginkgo tree is the oldest in Korea and also the biggest in Asia. A spring ginkgo tree with all the leaves fallen is distinctive from what you can see in the autumn. There are ginkgo-shaped papers hanging on the fence surrounding the tree, and you can write your wishes on it. After seeing the ginkgo tree and going further up, there is Daeungjeon Hall, the temple’s main building. Also, there is a stupa and the monument of Jeongjiguksa, the Buddhist monk in the early Joseon Dynasty. Since it is distanced from the temple, not many people come to this place; however, the expansive mountain view is so beautiful that it would take one’s breath away. Additionally, there are many cultural assets with detailed explanations, which will be helpful for those who want to know more about this place.

The youth museum is located at the entrance of the Yongmunsan tourist site. The cost is 8,000 won for adults and runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the last admission is at 5 p.m. It is a place where you can experience life in the 1970s. You can also rent old school uniforms if you pay 2,000 won more. It reenacts the 1970s lifestyle such as pubs, a phone booth, a bus stop, and a school. Those who lived at that time can feel nostalgic while the younger generation can experience the old lifestyle vividly. The whole place is a photo zone, which allows you to take pictures and create memories with friends or family. The finale of this museum is the slow letter post box. The person who you write to, whoever it may be, will receive it a year later, like opening a time capsule.
